Day 108 Tuesday Oct 8, 2013 A quick trip to Annapolis.

Day 108 Tuesday Oct 8, 2013 A quick trip to Annapolis.

We awake to a beautiful day which is quite a surprise given the weather the night before.  The good weather gives us an opportunity to dry out and get some work done on rigging the boat.  We only have till noon to get some work done on the boat so we get going by 8 am.

We get the initial tuning of the mast done, get the whisker pole mounted, boom mounted, bimini and full enclosure put on and finally the vang on and it is 12:00 noon.  We grab our bags and head out to the parking lot to meet our rental car pickup and we are off.  We first head to Hudson, New York to fill out the paper work and then we are on the way to Annapolis.

It is about a 5.5 hour drive along the New York Interstate then onto the Jersey Turnpike and onto the Deleware and Maryland Interstate and we are in Annapolis.  Well it sounds easy and it was but it did cost some money in tolls, over $25, but all in all a very easy drive.
Close to Newark, Delaware (will just miss visiting Mary Fay by 2 days)

We arrive at our hotel; enjoy a cool beer in the room (we planned ahead and brought some on ice) and head down for a light meal in the hotel restaurant.  Back to the room and off to bed for us.  We do feel a little like we are cheating as we have covered 215 miles in less than 6 hours where it should have taken us 7 days.  Not only that, but we are in a room that is larger than our boat complete with a bathtub.

Cheers

Dawson and Julie
