Day 289, Monday April 7th- still at Green Turtle Cay

Day 289, Monday April 7th- still at Green Turtle Cay

We are still here at Green Turtle as the winds are supposed to kick up and clock around and this is one of the few safe havens at the north end of the Abacos where we will then hop off the banks to the USA.  We wanted to spend a few days here, but it has to be a week in order to let this nasty weather pass.

Dawson heads out for a run and Julie studies her French.  The day progresses typically with Dawson working on his stern light installation and Julie cooking, cleaning and blogging.
Hot walk along Ocean Beach

John Spencer's boat "Some Dream"
We head to shore after lunch to go exploring.  Julie has not yet walked ocean beach this visit so we head for the Atlantic shoreline and go in search of some seabeans.  After Ocean beach we cut across to Coco Beach and stop in to say hi to Catherine and her sister Leeann.  We stay only a shortwhile and then head back to the marina.  We decide to head back to the boat but Dawson notices a Gemini catamaran with a Canadian flag on it and is anxious to see if it is John Spencer from Sudbury as he had heard from another boater that they had met a Sudbury sailor in the area.  Once the catamaran is in harbour and tied up we head over and sure enough it is a work colleague from Sudbury and his partner Brenda.  What a small world.  We chat only briefly as they have just arrived and there are always lots of jobs to get done before socializing.  We also bump into Pat and Diane Sharpe who are from Elliot Lake so we trade a few stories and make plans to meet in town for lunch the next day.
Dawson and John Spencer

One more stop finds us chatting with Guy and Louise before we head back to the mothership.  Lots of chatting today.  It is now getting on so we head back to Jazzebelle and get ready to head over to Windward for dinner.  They are serving the Hog fish that Ian caught yesterday.  Hog fish is reputed to be very tender and it was delicious.  We also learn a new game called Blockus.  It is a boardgame with Tetris like pieces that need to be placed a specific way.  The person to get rid of the most blocks is the winner.

Cheers

Julie and Dawson
