Day 111, Friday October 11, 2013
We slept in a bit as we had hoped to be at the West Marine
store for 7:30 when they opened. It was
9:00 by the time we got there, but they still had stuff left. We picked up our garmin and Dawson bought
some boots. We also picked p a stainless
steel nut and bolt kit and some other paraphenilia. They did not have any inflatable kayaks
though so we will have to head over to the other West Marine store. Next stop is in search of a repair kit for
our coolant pump. We have a minor leak
that needs to be addressed in our diesel engine. We also had to pick up a toilet repair
kit. Success after driving around in
circles looking for the shop. Next is
the SSB receiver we have decided to buy is a mail order company with an
Annapolis address. They have not
returned our calls so we go to the address.
It is a big beautiful house.
Dawson goes to the door and surprises Mr. Mail order but sure enough he
comes back to the car with the SSB receiver.
We are making great headway. It
is now about 11:00 and we head back over to Bacon marine to pick up the
jacklines that were being sewn for us and the anchor bridle. While there we buy a tether for Julie, and
some screen fabric to sew fender holders, but they don’t have navy so we have
to go around the block to pick that up too.
Now over to the “other” West Marine store to pick up our inflatable
kayaks and then to T-mobile to try to get the data plan on our phone working.
We make t-mobile by 2:00 and Dawson spends almost 2 hours
between the customer agent and the phone with no resolution. We hate T-mobile. They agree to extend us for 7 days as
compensation for our troubles which is really not much as we only need the
phone for about 24 more days, and will have to pay for another full 30 days
anyways.
We get on the road for our return journey by 4:00 and it is
a 5.5 hour trip back to the boat.
Unfortunately 4:00 on a Friday is not a good time to be getting out of
Annapolis, passing by Baltimore, nor passing by Philadelphia. We finally make Hop O Nose marina by 10:30
after a horrible Burger King dinner.
Roads were all good with only a bit of rain along the way. It is good to be back on the boat. We see that Ocean Cowboy is docked beside us
as they arrived to get their mast stepped while we were away.
Cheers
Julie and Dawson
