Day 258, Friday March 7th
Windy last night but we are well protected. We are making lots of electricity with the
wind generator. Took the rain collection
tarp down as it was noisy with the wind.
Due to high winds during the day we choose to hike vs.
snorkel as we can keep track of approaching squalls better and pick up our
emails. The winds continued to build
during the morning so even the hiking trip got nixed as it would have been a
wet ride with the dinghy and a rough landing.
There are also squalls forecasted for the day so prudence is the better
part of valor. With our hiking trip cancelled we decide to try Slow Waltz's trick of hoisting the IPad to the top of the mast to pickup emails. We do that by placing the IPad into a bag, tying that to the main halyard and hoisting it up with a tag line. It works so we have 15 mins of reading emails.

Julie does her French and then we do some
cleaning/maintenance on the boat. Mid
afternoon we have a bucket make a break for it over the side so we both jump in
the dinghy to halt its escape. After the
bucket pick-up we decide to head over and visit a boated name Prosperi. Prosperi is a Bayfield 32 that we had
corresponded with via email on the Erie Canal.
The owners are Jake and Sarah from Kingston Ontario. They had originally planned on joining the
Salty Dawg rally but due to time constraints opted to do the ICW down. They have been following our blog so knew a
fair bit about our travels. They have
been buddy boating with a boat out of Halifax by the name of Beaujolais, owners
Mike and Therma. We have a great visit on their boat and follow it up with an invite to both Prosperi and Beaujolais to join us on Jazzebele for sundowners
.
Finally 4:30 arrives and our guests start to arrive for
sundowners. It was an excellent evening
with many topics to discuss as we learn about one another’s adventures. The whole time we all keep our eye on the

weather. By 7:00 it is time for to head
to our respective boats and consider dinner.
In our case we have a bowl of bean salad as we had both partaken in the
appetisers. We both spend the evening
reading are our off to bed for 9.
Cheers
Dawson and Julie
