Day 9 July 1st
– Happy Canada Day
We awoke to
another beautiful morning on Canada Day.
Today was to be a travel day as we have to make are way to Killarney
(~50 nautical miles away). Our original
plan was to make Little Current before 4 pm to allow us to pick up some
supplies, but this was not to be. We had
hoped to be the 1st to leave the raft of 8 boats but we ended up
being the Windward boat so it was our pleasure to be the last to take off. We were able to sail most of the way to
Little Current and the winds were high enough that we had a single reef in the
main. At about 6 pm we could see the
swing bridge but decided there was no hope of any stores being open so stopped
at an anchorage just to the west of Little Current. It was a nice anchorage with us being the
only boat in the place. We got the wind
generator going had an early supper and were in bed for 10 pm.
