Day 297, Tuesday April 15th
We wake up to an overcast day in the marshlands of northern
Florida. The winds are light but
expected to pick up. The rain starts
drizzling . We schedule the day
including a trip to town in the afternoon to do laundry etc. that we did not
get done yesterday. First we head over
to Windward to activate our dataplan as Ian and Lynn have internet access from
their boat. While visiting Lynn reviews
all their favourite anchoring spots and marinas north of Charleston on the
ICW. Lots of great information for our
trip. We head back to Jazzebelle for
lunch, but sadly the winds are picking up so the afternoon trip to town is
cancelled. Instead we spend the
afternoon playing games, doing French, and Dawson fixing our stantion at the
stern that had an issue on our long voyage.
We were also supposed to go to happy hour upon the Sarah G, but about 5
o’clock which was the designated time, the sky opened up and it poured and the
wind picked up some energy and we were all trapped on our boats not being able
to go anywhere.
We eat dinner, and stare at the shore which is only about 60
feet away. Because we are anchored in 20
feet of water with 7 foot tides, we have about 140 feet of chain out so our
swing is almost 300 feet which basically is almost as wide as the creek we are
in.
We spend another stressful night at anchor with winds
gusting much higher than forecasted, probably highs of 35 knots. Dawson heads to bed at 11:00, and Julie lasts
about 5 minutes and takes her pillow out to the cockpit with a blanket to
stare some more at the shoreline. Luckily it is a full moon so we can monitor
our position fairly easily.
Sorry no pics today.
Cheers
Julie and Dawson
