Day 2 on the road to snow, well kind of away from it

Silly HWY names in Wisconsin.  Letters, imagine that!

The day began at 6:21 a.m.  near Madison Wisconsin.  On the road for 7 a.m. with high hopes to touch 4 states today.  The day started with a very low cloud cover and remained overcast most of the day until we reached North Dakota around 3 and then the sun came out.  We laughed at the Hwy names in Wisconsin.  They use the alphabet.  So they have HWY 'X', HWY 'PP' etc.  Seems dumb, but then numbers don’t sound much better if you think about it.

Driving on I-94 in Minnesota.  Deer stands everywhere.

We said good bye to Wisconsin and missed picking up some cheese.  Darn!  We were either too early or too late for the cheese factories.  Oh well.  It was a beautiful drive across Minnesota next.

Along Hwy 94 in Minnesota

We crossed the Mississippi and Red Rivers which is kind of cool and saw some neat Limestone formations.  Later we also crossed the Missouri River in North Dakota where we gave pause to the many travellers who crossed in covered wagons oh so many years ago and here we are just blasting across the states.

Last of daylight near Bismarck ND.  The sun came out.

Looks like we may make Castle Mountain late Sunday night at the rate we are going.  Look out Zach we are about to crash on you..... We are very much looking forward to the “Wright’s” caffeine machine.  Coffee enroute has been weak at best.   We continued to push as far west as reasonable in order to get out of the new weather advisory for parts of North Dakota and Minnesota.  As I write this it looks like bad weather will be behind us.  Montana is the last state of the day; we will be tucked away by the time I post this blog.  Looking forward to seeing the changed countryside tomorrow.  The prairies are definitely boring.  We are now in Mountain Time.  The extra hour of daylight we gained each driving day was great.  Total driving time today 13.5 hours.
