Our rest day started slow thanks to some excess wine the
night before, but is finishing well. We
woke around 8:30 am at the Barry household, had a couple of lattes and then
headed out to Doug and Deb’s favorite breakfast dinner. The diner is located on the old main street
of the village of ??? which Calgary annexed a long time ago. Breakfast was excellent. We then returned to the Barry’s home for us
to leave Deb and Doug to take a well deserved (well kind of) nap.

From Doug and Deb’s we headed to our friends Martin and Sue
Parnell’s who live just west of Calgary in Cochrane. We did have one more visit with Doug as after
leaving we realized we had forgotten our IPad so had to return for it.
We arrived at Martin and Sue’s around noon and spent the
next one and half hours catching up on each other’s news. Martin
is good friend who I worked with at Falconbridge/Xstrata in Sudbury and also
known as Marathon Quest 250. After our hour
of catch up we headed off to Glenbow Provincial park to do some hiking in
preparation of Machu Pichhu. We hiked
about 8 kms on easy trail with a bit of up and down at altitude ~4000ft. The new hiking boots seem to be okay (Julie).
The views of the Bow River were
beautiful.
