Today we are staying put.
There is a strong wind warning and it is all in the wrong direction to
where we might want to go so might as well stay snug in Snug Harbour. After a bit of work in the morning, such as
cleaning stainless, and fixing somethings we hike across the peninsula to the
north and arrive in Fraser Bay a couple miles to the west of where we had been
anchored Sunday night through to Monday morning . The waves were crashing along the shore and
we were thankful we had moved anchorages to where we hardly knew there was a wind. The other boats anchored
further out in our bay are moving about quite a bit. We had tied stern to shore in the NW corner
of the bay which was the direction of the wind so the winds were above us with
a mild breeze bouncing off the far shore and hitting us from the SE. Nothing to worry about. No waves at our end either.
We decided it was too windy for our picnic lunch so hiked
back to our bay and dinghied out to the Lansdowne channel and tucked in a bay
out of the wind. Nothing too
eventful. We perched at the shore on
some rocks. There were absolutely no
boats on the move down what is normally a boater’s highway.
After lunch Julie hung the hammock chair off the halyard and
promptly fell asleep. What a great
nap. Well rested for happy hour on
Chabot’s boat. Gilles and Denise were
hosting Margarita’s and hot appetizers of lamb and shrimp. We love these guys, high energy level on the
happy hour hosting. The only problem
with such a fabulous happy hour is the damage it does to our appetites for
dinner. Typically we have all thawed out
or planned certain foods that must be eaten along our trips to avoid any nasty
food problems, so regardless of how little our appetites are, we eat a full
dinner too. Life is not too bad if that
is our greatest problem.
We also awaited word on how Ross’s race went in Sweden. Turns out he ran a 3000m race vs his normal
1500m. His time was 7:57 which is
fabulous. Once we got hold of him he
said his leg was feeling pretty good, which we are glad to hear as he has been
suffering shinsplints which is very painful.
A quiet evening to give our livers a rest. This lifestyle is very social so far, which
we enjoy, but the waistlines and liver can suffer.
Cheers Julie and Dawson
