Day 191, Monday December 30th
Our second day in Nassau starts off with a coffee. Plan for the day is to do a little work
around the boat, pickup our water maker pump and then dinner with a business
associate. The plan works out sort of.
We install a rope clutch for the furling line something
which was much needed, clean the bilge out, and wash down the boat. Dawson makes some calls to get our water
maker pump from the UPS shipper in Nassau.
We had shipped the pump for the water maker back in November from Marsh
Harbour to be rebuilt in California and had it shipped to Nassau to be picked
up by us. Well some phone calls and it
was starting to look like our plans for getting the pump back without duty was
starting to fall apart, but that will be a story for tomorrow.
After our phone calls we make a trip into town to pick-up
some items at the marine shops including some fishing tackle to replace our
most recent losses. On our return we
have a swim and then head out for our dinner.
We are heading over to Dave Fennels house, Dave is a director at Torex
Gold where Dawson used to work. The trip
starts off well with a cab driver who is not happy to have a fare across
town. He whines for the 1st
10 minutes about the time it will take and then proceeds to drive us around
Cable Beach area. In the end we had to pull out the ipad to get him back on
track. Dave has lived in the Bahamas
since 1994 having purchase the Sigrist House.
The home was built in the 30’s in the classic English Manor House with
multiple rooms and houses on the property.
There were 13 people at dinner including work associates, neighbours, as well
as friends from his football career in the CFL.
The meal and company was excellent and we get a ride back from the house
manager around the 11 o’clock mark. An
excellent day in Nassau.
Cheers
Dawson and Julie
