Day XX Saturday, August 24th
Well we have borrowed my brother Mark’s truck to drive to
Sudbury to put the Miata to bed. Dawson
has the small wheels and Julie has the truck for the trip. Since we have the truck we have decided to
load it up with stuff that had ended up at Julie’s moms place cause it would
not fit on the boat.
We head out by 8:30 as we are meeting Glenn and Solange at
9:30 in London to get them to sign Transport Canada’s bill of sale
document. Our receipt was insufficient
as there was no place on it for Transport Canada to do their paperwork. It is good to see Glenn and Solange, however
they do miss their boat. We keep our
visit short as we are also popping into Guelph to visit Ross. We have not seen Ross since mid June before
he went to Russia to compete. Another
reason for the visit is Ross is also having to send in tax verification to
Canada Revenue. Three of the four of us
have been picked for review. What a
pain! Luckily it only takes about 30
minutes for Julie to locate the receipts and Ross has a photocopier so we are
off to lunch at the Fat Duck around the corner from Ross’s place.
We get on our way by 3:00 but traffic is heavy heading
north. We had thought being later on
Saturday all the cottagers would be off the roads, but no luck. Dawson turns off and takes some back roads
and is 30 minutes behind Julie at the Country Style meeting place in
Midland. Jago’s are hosting a dinner
party at 7:00 so we are hoping to be not too late.
It is 7:45 by the time we arrive and the Tyler’s, the
Jago’s, Kettles/Smith, and Lynda Moss are already on the patio sipping a
sundowner. We have a fabulous dinner
party and hit the sack late after a few games of ping pong.
Cheers Julie and Dawson
