Day 80, Tuesday September 10th
On way to RCR with Buffalo Sabre ice in background and a destroyer to the left |
Well today started with a Julie meltdown. Frustration over walking a mile or a shower
and then not having a key when she got there.
We assumed that a staff would be around and opted not to get the proper
key with the deposit that we would have had to coordinate the next day with an
early take off. Our dockage was rocking
a bit as the winds were high and the water comes into the bay with no where to
go.

Mast off with Chris holding it and Dawson watching |
After recovery of the meltdown, we continue to dismantle the
boat in preparation of dropping the mast.
The vang needs to come off then the boom and our new bimini and
dodger. It takes us until noon to get
this done then after a quick lunch we are off to RCR for our 2:00 appt for mast
dropping. We are about 20 minutes early
and do circles or 30 minutes awaiting our turn at the working dock. Finally after 5 circles it is our turn and in
we go. We still have to disconnect the
electronics, and drop the radar system.
There are 3 RCR staff helping us and they are all great. After a couple hours the mast is raised and
the boat seems naked. It is now 5:00
quitting time so we secure everything and head off to the local chandlery with
Pat Smith who has generously offered to drive us. Thanks Pat you are wonderful. We find a few items we need, but lots of
stuff now needs to be special ordered.
We will have to preorder to Annapolis.
We did get charts that we need for the next leg, but no cruisers
guide. Darn!
Back to the boat for
dinner. We are both exhausted
again. It has been a very hot muggy day. A quick dinner o quesadilla’s which is the
last of the groceries until we stock up again and then off to bed.
