Day 73, Tuesday Sept. 3rd
Today is Julie’s dad’s birthday. He would have been 79. A few minutes taken to reflect on family as
we wake up in Leamington, with all our supplies stowed and ready to start the
next leg of the journey. Looks like the
weather will be good for sailing today. We
have a 10 hour sail ahead of us to get to Erieau. Lake Erie can get nasty quite quickly and
there are very limited anchorages so we are now marina hopping. Leamington marina is one of the nicest we
have been to. Municipal, so taxpayers
dollars probably help this along. Another item we have been working on is organization. Dawson brought the guitar on this leg of the trip and Julie was a bit concerned on where to store it when we have guests. After a bit of thought, its new home is in the Pullman cabin bungee corded to the mast which runs down through the cabin to the keel.
Docks at Erieau |
We arrived at Erieau after sailing all the way. We had been to Erieau by car in June so had a
good idea of the lay of the land. We
went over to Bayside Brewery to see how all their renovations had gone. We had visited this craft brewery/restaurant on our car visit and chatted to the owner so were keen to see its progress. The restaurant was quite full especially for
a Tues. after the long weekend. We only
stayed for a beer as we had lots of food back at the boat. We attempted to hook up to the internet but it
would not work and the marina was closed when we arrived. We still get to pay full price in the
morning, however no one to help us land, or provide much service. Oh well.
Julie trying to blog at night in the cockpit |
We have our game of King’s cribbage and call it a night
after checking the weather and consulting the charts for the next day.
Cheers
Julie and Dawson
