Day 126, Saturday October 26th
Today we planned on getting a bit south so we could make
Hampton by Oct 28th, however Brad has offered to take us fishing in
his power cat and this is a good learning opportunity besides the fact that
Brad was away all week and it is an opportunity to visit. They have gone for outdoor family photos
scheduled at 7:40 and it is 0 degrees out (32F). We busy ourselves so we are ready to go once
they get home, and by 10:00 we are getting are up at the big house. Brad had picked up some Halloween decorations
at Walmart on his way home from the airport so we were put to work by Alexandra
decorating. There was glow in the dark
spider webbing and some plastic spiders that we set up around the house. Around 10:30 we headed down to Brad’s fishing
boat for a trip out on the Severn River.
Brad tries to get out every weekend.
The weekend before he had hooked a 28” Stripper which he lost just at
the boat so he was back out to redeem himself.
Before fishing Brad tours us to the north end of the river to see Pat
Sajak’s house (wheel of fortune host).
There are many beautiful homes and boats along the shore. The wind is quite brisk and strong so we stay
on the river and fish for stripers. One
of us has an eel for bait, one of us has a small fish similar to a sunfish and
one of us has a lure and jig. We drift
quickly with the wind and have no luck at all with fishing. They are not even biting. After a couple hours we head back in to warm
up. While we were out we got a call from
Kevin and a voice mail from Roma. Roma’s
message was that Ross had got 2nd at the OUA Cross Country race
(next is all Canadians in 2 weeks).
It is now after 2:00 and we have no interest in heading down
the bay in our sailboat in the cold wind, lucky Brad has invited us to stay for
a steak dinner, it did not take much to for us both to say yes. We are working at not being on a schedule but
it is hard after 30 years of raising a family and work.
Day 126, Saturday October 26thThis morning we are going fishing with Brad on the Severn River. It is quite cold out and we have no luck at all. It is very windy too. We do get to ride by Pat Sajack's (Wheel of Fortune) house. There are many beautiful homes in the area. The trees here are also changing colour.
We get back to the big house by 2:30 and are cold and decide we will not head out today. For the meagre miles we will make the idea of a dinner barbeque sounds wonderful. We have not had a good opportunity to visit with Brad as he has been out of town while we have been here.
Julie busies herself making a broccoslaw and potato salad to
contribute to the dinner, and Dawson flushed the water maker. We headed up to the big house just after 6:00
and arrive in time to see the kids before they head off to bed. We are fortunate enough to join in on the Halloween decorations that Brad has brought home with him.
We enjoy an excellent steak dinner, with
excellent company and now consider Brad and Laura good friends. They have been very kind to us during our
stay. By 10 pm all of us are ready for
bed, we say good bye and head down to the boat.
We have quite enjoyed our stay on the Severn river.
Cheers
Dawson and Julie
