Day 130, Wednesday October 30
We enjoyed a warm night in Virginia which is much
appriecated after the cold nights we have been having. We have a quick breakfast and then Julie is
off to yoga at 8 in and Dawson installs one of the new toys that where waiting
for us here in Hampton. We are starting
to get use to the world of on-line/phone ordering and have items delivered to
us. We had 4 packages waiting for us;
our Satellite phone, a wi fi booster, a part for the Dutchman furling system
and a 12 volt charger for the sat phone.
Dawson starts with the installation of the wi fi booster
called the wirier. It goes in no problem
but after firing it up we find there are no unsecured wi fi worth
boosting. The lack of wi fi will proved
to be a major down fall of the marina.
At 10 o’clock we both head for a seminar on rigging after which we are
back to the boat moving stuff around (once again) to make room for our two crew
members Greg and Rob who will be joining us for the passage to Bahamas. During an inspection of the steering gear
Dawson notices some water has built up behind the rudder dam. The Caliber is built with an internal dam
which holds back any water from leaking in from the rudder post. Dawson cleans out the water and tightens the
through hull for the rudder. We will have
to check this again in a

few days to see if we have anything serious with this.
The rally is quite the event with 120 boats but the size of
the rally has overloaded the volunteers working on it. Julie offers to help and spends the last part
of the afternoon inputting data on the various boats on what type of
communication system they have. Every
afternoon there is a weather summary and then a social. We attend the briefing have a sundowner with
the group and head back to the boat for dinner.
After dinner we flush the water maker play a quick game of Kings
Cribbage and off to bed.
