Day 24 - Lines, birds on poles, Peak 2 Peak and more lines

Day 24 of the ski tour.  Today marked our 12th day of skiing and started out with beautiful blue skies at Whistler.  We were running about 40 minutes behind Saturday's start, but it would cost us a lot more as our trip up the hill progressed.  The blue sky and the new snow had brought the skiers out in droves to the hill.  It took about 40 minutes for us to make it on to the Creekside Gondola for the 1st of 3 lifts to the top of Whistler.  In all it took us 2 hours from when we left Jaggers condo to when we made our 1st run.

But once we were at the top we were well rewarded for our perseverance with blue skies, a beautiful view, and soft snow and the occasional powder.

The lifts were heavy all through the day, luckily the hill provided in-line entertainment at the Harmony Lift line with Canada Jays that were feeding from peoples hands and landing on ski poles.  This somewhat took the edge of waiting.

Next on the agenda was a trip on the Peak 2 Peak Gondola.  This gondola connects the two mountains Whistler and Backcomb.  It has the longest span of any passager gondola in the world and was designed and built by Doppelmayr.  Doppelmayr is the company which will provide the aerial conveyerway for the Morelos project (mine) in Mexico, so I had visited the Doppelmayr manufacturing plant in Austria.  A story I managed to mention to my fellow passengers on both the ride to and from Blackcomb.

We did a couple of runs at Blackcomb and then headed back to Whistler.  We weren't done with the lines yet though as it took 30 minuets for us to exit the parking lot at the base of the hill.  Hence the last line in the title.

Tonight will be our last night in Whistler and we must thank our host Cathy, Doug and family for letting us stay at their place for the 3 nights.  Thanks very much.
