Day 28 - Good bye to the mountains

Today we woke up well rested for some hiking.  We headed off from Jasper by 9:00 to Maligne Canyon for an ice walk.  Sadly we had not charged our cameras so all pics are from our cell phones.  The hike was only about 4kms. but provided an opportunity to hike both above and inside the canyon.  It was stupendous.  The ice formed both stalagtites and stalagmites, plus an amazing floor. The canyon itself was very deep and took up both by surprise as we leaned over the bridge down below.  We are so happy we did this hike in the winter as the summer would only provide the hike above the canyon and not the canyon floor.  We took some neat pics even though they are only on our cell phones.

After the hike we started our trek to Edmonton.  At one point in the drive Dawson asked me if I could see the mountains in the rear view mirror and I was shocked to realize that our fun in the mountains was coming to a close.  The mountains were gone and my heart sunk.  The mountains and our drive was just so beautiful and magnificent.  We are both very sad to say good bye to that amazing landscaspe.  As usual todays drive had fabulous conditions.

We are happy to see our wonderful Ross run in the CIS National University Indoor track meet in Edmonton.  Ross runs on Friday in the 3000m and Saturday in the 1500m.  Ross has struggled with injury this winter but should be able to help his team hopefully win a title.  Before we get to the track meet we were able to pile into the Bailey household for a Science 85 hello.  Bill used to live in Ontario and we skied with him many times in Ontario in the early years of dating.  Below is a pic of Bill and Kellie and their 2 kids.

 Cheers
