Day 27 - Last day skiing

Well today was a sunny cold day at Marmot Basin in Jasper National Park.  The base is very high and most of the runs are above the tree line.  The hill is about a 25 minute drive from the little town of Jasper.  It is very quiet here in Jasper as this is their off season.  Even the hill which has a bunch of new chairs was quite empty.  The clientele was mainly school trips.  A few busloads of elementary and high school kids.  We got cold so had a few breaks but since there were no line ups we still got plenty of runs in.  We think today was our last day on the mountains with skis on.  It has been great skiing and having the opportunity to compare so many ski areas.  I truly have a better understanding of "snow".  New words like wind sift, champagne powder, snow "setting up" etc.

We are staying in a hotel in Jasper and have a huge room with a sitting area and an eating area.  Hotel also has a hot tub so we are quite happy.  The view out our window is cool.  Mountains with a pink morning sky and Canadian rail cars in front.  Pretty iconic for Canada.

We are researching hiking for tomorrow and then should be in Edmonton tomorrow night.
