Day 222, Thursday, January 30th
Today is the day Marcene arrives (good friend of Julie and
Dawson’s from Lively days). We have
decided to go into the marina for water, diesel and gas top ups and hope we can
hang out on the dock until Marcene’s flight arrives. Unfortunately we are too keen and they only
will allow about an hour at the dock and we are done topping up and getting
some groceries by 10, and Marcene does not land until 11. We decide to anchor just off the docks. This works out well as it is a bit wavy out
and we don’t want to dinghy very far with the waves and problem motor. After being satisfied we are anchored okay,
we dinghy to the dinghy dock and Marcene is already there. Eek, we thought it would take an hour after
landing but it only took about 30 minutes to clear customs, get bags and cab it
over so instead of being 30 minutes early we are tardy.
Marcene arrives to Georgetown |
After hugs and hellos and running a couple quick errands we
head back to the mothership. We get
soaked on the short trip. The tide was
coming still going out running against the waves which did not help. Welcome to salty water land all over
everything. We decide to stay in the
anchorage overnight and head in to Peace and Plenty for a Rake and Scrape which
is an evening of music. It is supposed
to be more traditional than it is, but it is still nice to get out in the warm
air, have a beer, chat and listen to the band.
We only stay out a couple of hours and we have brought some rain gear to
protect us from the waves on the way back to the mothership so all is well for
a safe dry trip back to the mothership.
Cheers
Julie and Dawson
