Day 228, Wednesday, Feb 5
Dawson paying for garbage pick up |
Well today is Marcene’s last play day. The day once again starts off with coffee in
the cockpit however there is no yoga this morning as the instructors are off
sailing somewhere. We spend a peaceful
morning hanging out. A bit of
excitement occurs around 10 o’clock with the arrival of the garbage boat. An industrious Bahamian offers the service of
garbage pickup from your boat for the small fee of $3 per bag. A great service as that is the cost if you
take your own garbage to shore.
Kayak exercise-Marcene |
We have a light lunch and head to the beach for some
volleyball and bridge. Marcene takes a
pass on volley ball as she is nursing a sore knee. The big topic at the beach today is the upcoming
dance at Chat’n Chill. The party takes
place at the cruiser bar located at Volleyball beach with the DJ service of one
of the cruising boats aptly named “Sea Dancer”.
Due to the upcoming dance volley ball is over promptly at 4 to allow the
boaters to head back to their boats for dinner as the party starts at
5:30. One thing with boating even thing
starts early and end early as your life is focused on day light. Nine pm is referred to as cruisers midnight
and is very well named; it has been a rare occasion when we have been out past
9.
Beautiful day to be on the water |
Marcene has offered to treat us to dinner so we head in to
Chat’n Chill for 5:30. We meet a fellow
we had met at the super bowl event and join him and his friends for
dinner. About half way through dinner
the woman with them sparks up a very skinny cigarette, which Dawson thinks is a
cheroot but based on smell Julie and Marcene declares to be a joint. It is going to be an interesting party. Once dinner is done we head out to the deck
to enjoy the cool evening air and dance to some tunes from the past. It is quite a scene with a party crowd with
the average age of 60 dancing up a storm.
By 9:30 the dance floor is deserted and we head back to the boat. This time we have prepared for our trip back
to the mothership by dinghy in the dark, having determined our heading when we landed
and make the return trip without incident (after superbowl we had to search for
the mothership in the dark).
A game of Dominos and we are off to bed. Another beautiful evening in paradise.
Cheers
Dawson and Julie
