Day 227, Feb 4, Tuesday
Today is planned to be very similar as the day before but
without the talk. Coffee in the cockpit,
yoga on the beach for Julie and Marcene and a run along the beach for
Dawson. By 10:30 we are all done our
exercise portion of the day. We head
back to the boat for lunch and Dawson calls to see if our new outboard has
arrived on the mail boat. The news is
good, the motor is in so we head into George Town to pick it up.
Our old Merc makes its final trip for us albeit with a lot
of steam. Dawson drops Marcene and Julie
off at the dingy dock and then heads over to Milns Marina to pick up the new
motor. There was no trade in for the
motor so Dawson gives the old Merc to one of the local mechanics. Dawson leaves the dinghy with the mechanics
and heads up to pay, $2,300 for a new 15 hp Yamaha all in, not a bad
price. When Dawson gets back to the boat
the old motor is gone and the new one on the transom all ready to go. The whole purchase took less than 20 mins.
Dawson then heads back to the dinghy dock to meet up with
the women, unfortunately Eddy’s, the meeting bar, was closed. Luckily George Town is not too big so we were
able to meet up. Julie and Marcene had
a good look around with Marcene even making a purchase of a pair of
earrings. Dawson and Julie then head up
to the immigration to see about getting our visas extended but are told to come
back the next day when the boss will be in.
This is the 4th time to immigration for us! We arrange to meet Marcene at the Exuma Yacht
club for a beer. Unfortunately the yacht
club is closed when we get there, but again this is a small town so we find
Marcene swilling a cold one at Bikini Bottoms pub.
A good trip to get the motor but not really much else
accomplished, 2 meeting places closed and struck out at immigration.
Dinner, coffee a game of dominos and off to bed we go.
Cheers
Dawson and Julie.
